CRAIGMANCIE STUD was started in 1996 with the aim of producing good quality competition horses. By studying pedigrees and choosing foundation stock with good conformation, a good temperament, and that have competed themselves, we hope to produce a horse that can compete and be a pleasure to own.
We pride ourselves in being a small, friendly yard which can give individual attention to the visiting mares. Here they can be cared for in a calm farm setting with qualified staff and excellent facilities. Many mares return time and time again as owners are pleased with their youngstock and the service we provide.
CRAIGMANCIE STUD is a purpose built stud yard situated on a 500 acre mixed farm in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The land is all well draining arable land where we fatten beef and sheep and produce all our own haylage, barley and straw.
Our feed merchant (one mile away) samples our feed and grazing regularly to produce our own feeding regime and mineral supplements.
This enables us to maximise the growth potential of our youngstock and the fertility of our mares and stallions.
CRAIGMANCIE STUD has excellent purpose built facilities.
There is a large airy American Barn type stable block with rubber floored and walled stables and automatic water bowls.
There are additional pony and horse stables and large loose barn areas for youngstock.
Craigmancie Stud also boasts a horse walker, all weather outdoor arena, indoor collection barn with adjacent laboratory and handling stocks.
At CRAIGMANCIE STUD we stand these stallions :
-
Spartan Heights, thoroughbred. 15.3hh
-
Craigmancie Gold, 1/2 TB x 1/2 WB. 16.1hh
-
Rotherwood Fandango, riding pony.13hh
-
Western Armada, connemara. 14.2hh
They all have an excellent temperament and are kept in a stable block with mares and are regularly worked in company at home and at shows. The stallions are EVA and CEM tested at the start of each season and hold a clean bill of health.
From 2003 CRAIGMANCIE STUD has provided an AI service with fully qualified staff.
We offer an excellent service to mare owners using chilled semen from our own stallions or an insemination service using outside chilled semen.
We work very closely with our vet to ensure that the optimum time of insemination to coincide with ovulation.
In 2007 CRAIGMANCIE STUD opened to outside stallions and now have a number of walk in stallions who have been trained onto our dummy mare "Josephine".
This enables them to compete from home and only need to come to stud when needed.
We can inseminate the mares here or send the semen away to other studs when called for.
